The conical fluidizing air pad is a specialized aeration device installed at the discharge outlet of dense-phase pneumatic conveying bin pumps. Unlike flat circular air pads mounted on hopper side walls, this cone-shaped pad sits centrally at the vessel bottom with its entire 360-degree surface covered in gas-permeable filter cloth. Compressed air diffuses uniformly in all directions, fluidizing the complete powder bed without dead zones. The result is near-complete discharge — residual powder drops from the typical 8–15% with flat pads to less than 1%, while discharge speed increases by approximately 30%. Available in four standard sizes matching bin pump volumes from 0.5 m³ to over 3 m³, the pad features a perforated Q235 carbon steel or 304 stainless steel conical frame with reinforced polyester or high-temperature PPS filter cloth. A large-bore G3/4" air connection supplies adequate flow for the larger membrane area. For dense-phase fly ash, cement, mineral, and chemical powder conveying systems where residual material directly increases compressed air consumption and cycle time, this conical pad is the high-efficiency upgrade over standard flat designs.
Flat aeration pads create directional airflow that fluidizes powder directly in front of the pad but leaves material in corners and at the center undisturbed. After each conveying cycle, 8–15% remains as a compacted heel. Operators compensate with additional blow cycles, wasting compressed air and increasing cycle time. Over successive cycles, residual material builds up until the outlet cross-section reduces and plugging occurs.
The conical pad eliminates dead zones through geometry. The entire surface releases air bubbles in all directions simultaneously, uniformly permeating powder above the cone, at the base perimeter, and in the annular space between cone and vessel wall. The steep angle naturally directs fluidized material toward the outlet. The reinforced cloth — 30% thicker than standard flat pad fabric — withstands abrasive impact and dense-phase pressure cycling. For high-temperature fly ash to 190°C, PPS cloth replaces polyester. One centrally mounted pad replaces multiple flat pads at various wall locations.

The conical pad bolts onto the bin pump outlet flange, with the cone pointing upward into the powder bed. Compressed air enters through the G3/4" base fitting, fills the internal chamber, and diffuses through the perforated frame and filter cloth across the entire conical surface. Air bubbles emerge uniformly in all directions, reducing inter-particle friction throughout the vessel bottom. Fluidized powder flows under gravity toward the outlet. When air stops, the cloth immediately blocks powder backflow.
